Have you ever thought about something you should have done but didn’t? There will come a time for almost everybody in this century where we will regret the things we wanted to do but never took action in our later years. This could be anything from learning to play the piano to climbing Mount Everest.

However, the most serious problem we have today in October 2019 is nothing to do with playing the piano or climbing mount Everest but a much more serious issue which are ways to save the environment for our grandchildren and theirs.

There are endless ways we can play our part to do this but how many of us are taking this seriously? Here are some interesting facts about bottled water alone and this is just one of the endless plastic products.

Plastic Bottle Manufacturing

We are spending more than a billion pounds a year on bottled water. It is estimated by 2022 that it could reach close to half a trillion.

The number of plastic bottles thrown away each and every year is enough to circle the earth around 4 times and counting. In America alone, they throw away 35 billion plastic bottles and most of them end up in our oceans which kill our fish and marine mammals.

If you think that bottled water is a good alternative to tap water after you have watched this video this will probably change your mind

Why Are Plastic Straws Bad

You might be interested to know there are 9.5 million plastic straws polluting our shorelines. Why do we need to drink our beverages using plastic straws is it really that much of a challenge to pick up a glass and drink from it?

Sucking from a straw takes much more effort than sitting back and just drinking straight from the glass so why do we do it?  I have to think back to my childhood days where it was a novelty to drink with a straw but at that time they were made of paper.

I don’t think much has changed over the years kids today love to drink their drinks from a straw but it is only a habit and all habits can be broken.

If we are serious about saving the planet this is a step in the right direction if we are looking for ways to save the environment. By simply saying no to plastic straws we are protecting our wildlife. Sea turtles are a perfect example the straws get up a sea turtles noses they very often eat them thinking it is food.

Cling Film Alternative

If you are seriously looking for ways to save the environment then stop using cling film. We as consumers in the UK alone use 1.2 billion meters of cling film every year that is enough to go around the world more than 30 times which is astonishing don’t you think?

Cling film is almost impossible to re-cycle as you can imagine. What’s more, it takes hundreds of years to degrade. Very much like plastic bags, they end up in the ocean confusing species like jellyfish, turtles and many other marine animals they think it is food.

This has a knock-on effect as birds feed on dead fish, animals, which form a food chain that eventually gets into our immune system when we eat fish or animals. Thankfully there are alternatives to Cling Film which are natural beeswax wraps are free of plastic and fully compostable find out more here.

Tap Water vs Bottled Water

There is has been so much discussion on whether bottled water is any better than tap water. Strangely enough in almost every case, tap water comes out on top why? From my findings, a lot of bottled water turned out to be tap water anyway. The average price for bottled water is around $8.26 per gallon whereas tap water is a fraction of a penny or a cent where ever you are in the world.

The problem with bottled water is not the water but the plastic containers they store it in. It is a well-known fact that plastic in almost every case contaminates the water and is highly unregulated. Whereas Tap water has to meet certain standards read more here

I live in the UK but if in the US, Canada is pretty much the same. However, having said that the standard of water can vary to where you are located in the world. So why do we buy bottled water rather than drink tap water at a fraction of the cost?

The answer is simple it does taste better for sure why? Most bottled waters we don’t experience the awful smell and taste of Chlorine. If water companies did not add chlorine to the water most people would not drink it why? In most cases, it would be discoloured in some way or another.

Water, as you have probably gathered, is one of my favourite subjects and we can’t survive without it. Our bodies are 75% water and it is important to Not get dehydrated. This can cause all sorts of problems in the long term so drinking at least 6 to 7 glasses of water every day is essential in order to enjoy long term health benefits.

It is important to understand the water is recycled over and over again for information take a look this website click here

So in order to produce clean water which is safe to drink water companies have to add chemicals to our water which can damage our health in the long term. Here is a list of the chemicals in our drinking water

  • Chlorine.
  • Fluorine compounds.
  • Trihalomethanes (THMs)
  • Salts of: arsenic. Radium. Aluminium. Copper. Lead. Mercury. Cadmium. Barium.
  • Hormones.
  • Nitrates.
  • Pesticides

So where does that leave us if we don’t want to buy bottled water or drink tap water? For years, I have been drinking filtered water of some kind why? I don’t like to drink tap water and consume any of the above chemicals into my immune system and would never buy bottled water for sure.

What is Alkaline Drinking Water

Last month alone there were 10.136 searches on that keyword alone with regard to Alkaline water so I felt this is something I need to address in this post. Not just for that reason but as there is a lot of controversial discussions to whether it is good for us or NOT

I have to say as I have been drinking Alkaline water for the past 3 years I feel I would like to share my experience. However, before I do that let’s look very closely at the meaning of the word Alkaline.

Most FRESH fruit and vegetables are described as Alkaline for example

Raisins Grapes Blueberries Oranges Apples Cherries Apricots Grapefruit Avocado Olives, green Banana Pears/Peaches Lemons Blackberries Nectarines Strawberries Persimmon Raspberries Tangerines Limes Papaya Pineapple Watermelon Cantaloupe/Honeydew

All the above claim to be good for us and boost the immune system Ginger is a natural antibiotic so for the life of me why would anybody doubt that Alkaline water would NOT boast the immune system?

Where people get confused is the fact that Alkaline water that is sold in bottles is useless why? In order to keep it in its alkaline state they will have to add chemicals for more information in this regard please watch the video below

Alkaline water after 24 hours becomes acidic just like an apple or a pear once it is peeled if not eaten straight away will discolour.
However, that is not the only reason I have been making full use of my leveluk J11 Enagic Machine I love to drink clean water free of all chemicals.
